Volunteers

Volunteer

From its beginnings in 1979, Queensland Family History Society has been entirely volunteer-run.  The enthusiasm and dedication of its many volunteers over the years have created one of Australia’s leading genealogical societies.

You can help us as we continue to educate, inspire and connect people through family history.  The society’s wide range of activities ensures that there are many ways for volunteers to find their niche;  from very practical tasks to highly technical and research-oriented.

Become a part of the QFHS community. You’ll discover others who‘ll welcome you and share your interests. The time you give to your volunteering is up to you. There are a number of roles and tasks that are perfect for working from home.

If you enjoy:

  • Engaging with members, ensuring they’re getting the most from membership
  • Being organised and methodical, meeting deadlines
  • Dealing with original records
  • Using your IT/website skills
  • Welcoming and helping others with their research
  • Shopping
  • Adding to our resources for benefit to all
  • Odd jobs, fixing things, gardening
  • Communicating clearly, letting members know what’s going on
  • Writing; writing stories
  • Marketing and promoting events
  • Engaging with the public, talking about family history and QFHS
  • Having an eye for detail

there's a volunteer role for you!
