Talking about ... Ferries: The crossing places and the boatsPresenter: Facilitator: Nancy EdwardsCome and join our chat about ferries. Whether it is your own story or your ancestors' story, we will enjoy the fellowship. Ferries were one of the earliest forms of transport in all capital cities except Adelaide. Join us on a "cruise" from the colonial era to current times, along rivers and bays. Perhaps the Brisbane or Bremer rivers, or Moreton Bay. Perhaps we will be aboard the S S Experiment or the S S Koopa. Which ferry wharf will we be leaving from? Will it be Circular Quay or Redcliffe Jetty? Who built your passenger ferry or vehicular ferry, and is it motivated by horse, cable, steam, diesel or electricity? Will we be passing under bridges or encountering navigational hazards or floods? As the saying goes, it's not about the destination but the journey. Our experiences on this journey can embellish your knowledge of your ancestors' day to day lives. Facilitator: Nancy Edwards from the Queensland Family History Society Inc. Please note. This event does not have a presenter. Social connection and learning will be promoted by a facilitator providing discussion opportunities for the participants, through prompts, conversation and chat messages. In some instances there may be a list of resources and the 'chat' emailed to participants after the event. The event will not be recorded. As these sessions have a limited number of tickets to ensure everyone gets their chance to participate in the discussion, if you are booked and realise you are now unable to attend, please advise us so we can reallocate your ticket to someone on the waitlist. This event will be held at 10:00 am Queensland, Australia time (AEST, no daylight saving)
