Notes:THIS EVENT WILL BE HELD ONLINE.
Presenter: Jeni Bush
In 2022, the Queensland Country Women’s Association (QCWA) celebrated 100 years of continuous service. Since 1922, branches have been formed in small country communities and larger Queensland cities. Younger sets have been formed. Seaside homes have been acquired for the use of visiting members. Funds were raised and hostels for waiting mothers and rural students were built, maintained, and managed by local branches and State Divisions. These branches and Divisions have been part of the social fabric of Queensland and in particular Queensland women since their formation.
Over the years the women have produced cookery books and quilts and lobbied for practical help for their communities.
Jeni will give us an overview of her archive and what can be found there, how and when the resources can be accessed, and information about where else we could search for information on our QCWA ancestors.
Attend online and/or view on catchup for a month after the meeting (when speakers have given consent). Limited places are available for each session, so bookings on Eventbrite are essential when the link becomes available. For suggestions for training course topics please contact the Education team at education@qfhs.org.au.
