Notes:THIS EVENT WILL BE HELD ONLINE.
Speaker: Eric Kopittke
Topic: Using signatures to identify families
When a young immigrant couple from Sussex married in Queensland in 1883, they listed their places of birth and the names of their parents. However several families with the same surnames as the groom’s parents resided in and around the village in which the groom was born. How could the researcher identify the correct families?
This presentation provides a case study showing how signatures were located and used, along with other documents, to identify the groom’s grandparents
Attend online and/or view on catchup for a month after the meeting (when speakers have given consent).
