Notes:THIS EVENT WILL BE HELD ONLINE AND IN PERSON AT THE QFHS FAMILY HISTORY RESEARCH CENTRE i.e. A HYBRID MEETING.
Our book club is designed for family historians. Share your favourite reads in a relaxed setting. There's no requirement to read a particular book. High brow, low brow - we don't care as long as we're enjoying good writing and discovering something along the way.
In this Book Club, our theme is Genealogy Mysteries.
Louise Penny and her Three Pines series is currently very popular on Amazon Prime. What genealogy mysteries do you enjoy reading and why? What can we learn from fiction when writing nonfiction? What makes a great character?
Maybe you have heard of Nathan Dylan Goodwin. Did you know we have some of his books in our lending library at the Family History Research Centre at Chermside? Other suggested authors include Wendy Percival, Steve Robinson, M K Jones, Susan Finlay, John Nixon, and Geraldine Wall.
NEWSFLASH
Wendy Percival author of the Esme Quentin series joins us from the UK for our very first Book Club event. Her most recent novel is Blood Tied. This work covers a wide range of topics of interest to a family historian: adoption, inheritance and the trickly notion of family.
Join us to hear Wendy's story of creating a world and the challenges faced by writers of mystery.
The Book Club events are Members Only events. Non-members are encouraged to have a look at all of the activities of the society. In particular, check out the Members Lounge webpage where all members only events are listed. If you feel keen to attend these activities, please join us.
