Guest Speaker - Dr Hilda Maclean, QFHS member.
Dr Hilda Maclean is a professional historian, genealogist, and archival researcher and has spent over thirty years’ researching her maternal Norwegian family. Hilda regularly presents workshops on genealogical and archival research methodology and has presented at international conferences on topics such as funerary history, cemeteries and more recently Chinese family history. Although Hilda has a Norwegian mother and husband, this is the first time she is sharing her knowledge of Norwegian family history research.
While Norway has the same basic family history records as the United Kingdom, it has other record sets which may be unfamiliar to Australian researchers. Amongst others, learn about confirmation, vaccination and movement records administrated by the parish church and farm histories compiled by the local community.
